Who makes decisions about the area where you live and work?

Erewash Borough Council’s Community Governance Review is asking whether Long Eaton should have its own town council. The Stage 2 consultation on the draft recommendations closes on Friday 4 December 2026. No decisions have been made, and councillors want to hear from residents and local businesses before they consider their recommendations.

The Long Eaton Chamber of Trade is meeting this evening at 6 pm, Wade Spring Furniture Group Building, Wellington Street, Long Eaton. What3words ///unwanted.pinch.good, and we’d love to see you there. It’s a chance to discuss the proposals with fellow local business owners before you complete the survey. Members and non-members are both welcome.

The £10million refurbishment of Long Eaton’s town centre will see overnight diversions for a week from Sunday 4 October as the main Tamworth Road is shut to traffic.

The route will be closed from 7pm until 5am with the last closure being lifted on the morning of Saturday 10 October. This is so work can be switched from one side of the road to the other as new paving is installed.

Tamworth Road has already become one-way while construction is carried out – with vehicles heading south barred until December. Contractors aim to minimise disruption by only closing the road completely at night.

A spokesman for the project – which is being fuelled by the £25million Long Eaton Town Deal – said: “Thank you for your patience during these works. We understand that highway works can be frustrating. Work is progressing well and you can now see the finished areas – which give an idea of how your town centre will look.”

Another monthly drop-in event for people to find out more about how Long Eaton is being transformed will be held on Tuesday 6 October at Rowells bar – a former drapers shop which is at no22 – between 11am and 2pm to ask questions and get all the latest updates.

It is coming up time for the works on Tamworth Rd to swap sides. This will be done between the 4th and 9th October.

One side done one more to go.

Big news for Long Eaton town centre! 🎉
Work has started on the Long Eaton Town Deal High Street Scheme — a major regeneration project funded by the UK Government that will transform our High Street into a more vibrant, attractive space for everyone.
The project runs through to Spring 2027 and covers High Street, Tamworth Road, and other town centre areas. Works are being carried out in stages, with pedestrian access to businesses maintained throughout opening hours, and delivery and Blue Badge parking arrangements in place.
Got questions? The dedicated Public Liaison Officer, Neil Hallam, will be visiting businesses before work starts in each area — and he's available throughout the project.
Long Eaton is open for business and the best is yet to come! đź’Ş
